Paso Robles
Salinas River Corridor
The Salinas River Corridor is a four mile stretch within Paso Robles proper. It has been the focus of an intensive Community Vision effort since 2003.
The project purpose is:
To protect, restore, and enhance the water quality, riparian habitat, flood control, and groundwater recharge values of property along
the Upper Salinas River.

Enhanced Regional Connections
Multi-use trails connecting regional recreational and histroic trail systems, including the National Anza Trail, and linking the community to nearby cities.

Enhanced Community Connections
Tree-lined sidewalk and pathway enhancements to link existing recreational routes to the river.

Salinas River
Parkway Trail
Over 1-1/2 miles of existing multi-use trail, funded through a State Grant, with restoration and watershed education features.

Trail Heads
Trail access points with user amenities which include auto/bike parking, restrooms, picnic facilities and directional markers.


Riverfront District
Civic Plaza and Riverwalk Promenade for the public to engage with the river through community focused activities including art, education and entertainment.

Riverfront Promenade
Tree lines urban edge with distinctive lighting and street furniture along top of the riverbank, providing enhanced access to Paso Robles Street properties and River.

Outdoor Amphitheater
Natural terrain shapes an outdoor theater for seasonal events and scenic views of the River.


Pedestrian Connection to Downtown
Pedestrian overpass from the downtown to a revitalized Riverfront and Riverwalk Promenade, a key component of an expanded downtown.


Pedestrian Bridges
Providing enhanced linkages between the east and west sides of the community.

Equestrian Undercrossing
Provide safe connection between existing equestrian staging at the Paso Robles Event Center and the river trail system.

Educational Wetland Trail
Interpretive wetland trail exhibit and raised boardwalk trail system, highlighting biological solutions to watershed health.

Enhanced Trail Systems
Multiple looped trails that are a combination of:
a) Permanent multi-use (paved);
b) Semi-permanent (non-paved) in flood zone; and
c) Primitive near flow channel.

Gateways and Preserved Vistas
Through public/private stewardship, agricultural conservation strategies, and public acquisition opportunities, visual connections to the river corridor will be preserved.
