Teen Volunteer Program

What is the Teen Volunteer Program?

The Paso Robles City Library Teen Volunteer Program is designed to offer opportunities for area teens, ages 16-17, that promote personal growth and workforce development. It requires a 12-month commitment of 2-3 hours per week.

Currently, there is a need for:

  • Children's Library Shelver (Saturdays) Requires excellent attention to detail, knowledge of alphabetical and numerical order, ability to reach upper and lower shelves.

Why Volunteer?

Volunteering is beneficial to teens because it:

  • Develops a sense of community and social responsibility
  • Builds social connections
  • Improves critical thinking skills
  • After GPA and SAT, factors into college admission decision-making
  • Helps teens find their passion

What It Entails

Duties May Include:

  • Shelving and shelf reading
  • Assisting at public desks
  • Assisting with classes and events
  • Cleaning, tidying shelves

Desired Skills Include:

  • Dependability
  • Strong customer service
  • Good communication
  • Ability to work independently

Application Process:

  • Applications must be neat, legible, and complete.
  • Two letters of recommendation from employers or instructors must be attached to the application. (No family members, please.)
  • Applicants will interview with the Volunteer Coordinator.
  • References will be checked.
  • Fingerprinting is required (at no cost).
  • Orientation and training.
