Be Well Paso Weekly Challenge

Today we begin a few more weeks of the Be Well Paso Weekly Challenge! As stay-at-home orders evolve, we’ll continue to help you stay fit, productive, connected, and positive.

JUST FOR FUN - We’ve all heard the popular saying "Laughter is the best medicine." Most psychologists agree that humor helps people take back their sense of power in a powerless situation and it helps them connect with others. 

LET’S MOVE - Over the past four weeks, you sampled a variety of exercises. Hopefully, you’ve incorporated many of them into your daily life. Over the next few weeks, we’ll turn you on to a few new ones and reintroduce you to a few of our favorites.

WHAT TO DO - In case you’ve run out of things to do, we’ll offer you some fresh ideas.

IT’S ALL GOOD - When things get tough, many people turn to a motivational quote for a bit of inspiration. Quotes have the power to inspire and encourage. Whenever you feel low, unhappy, or lacking motivation, read attentively a few quotes, and you will see how your mood and state of mind begin to improve. 

Day 1

JUST FOR FUN - In just 3 phone calls, Radar could have had masks, gloves, ventillators, PPE,12-year-old Scotch, Rocky Road ice cream and grape-flavored Nehi soda.  

LET’S MOVE - Time for bent over rows with those weighted milk jugs. 

WHAT TO DO - Try out the Library’s new curbside service.

Day 2

JUST FOR FUN - I have the most loving wife. Last night I woke up while she was holding a pillow over my face to protect me from the virus.   

LET’S MOVE - Now add bicep curls with weighted milk jugs.

WHAT TO DO - Learn to tie-dye.

Day 3

JUST FOR FUN - One thing we’ve learned is just how terrible most of America is at playing guitar.

LET’S MOVE - Single leg deadlift anyone?

WHAT TO DO - Put on your favorite 50’s dance music or watch American Grafitti if you can.

Day 4

JUST FOR FUN - If you had asked me what the hardest part of battling a global pandemic would be I would have never guessed, “teaching elementary school math.”

LET’S MOVE - Try this 20-minute yoga session.

WHAT TO DO - Organize your tool box.

Day 5

JUST FOR FUN - Since everybody has now started washing their hands, the peanuts at the bar have lost their taste. 

LET’S MOVE - Do 10 pushups, for beginners.

WHAT TO DO - Visit the Winchester House in San Jose.

Day 6

JUST FOR FUN - Bald people for the win during this quarantine. When this is over we will still look fresh and clean. 

LET’S MOVE - Planet Fitness: Live-streaming 20-minute work-ins every day on Facebook and YouTube. The workouts can be done from home and don’t require any equipment.

WHAT TO DO - Watch a Healing Heart video.

JUST FOR FUN - I can’t wait to show off my post-quarantine body. 

LET’S MOVE - 30-minute medium intensity pilates.
