Join the Paso Robles City Library for a special poetry event – Drop In and Haiku!—on Wednesday, April 17, 2:00-5:00 pm. Create a haiku poem on card stock and embellish it using colored pencils, markers, etc. “Compose a special message for a friend or loved one that you can give to them as a card or frame it for them to display in their home,” suggests Adult Services Librarian Karen Christiansen.
National Haiku Poetry Day was first celebrated by The Haiku Foundation in 2012. On this day, participants are encouraged to write an original haiku, a form of Japanese poetry that is non-rhyming and consists of three lines with a syllable pattern of 5-7-5. Haiku poems are usually inspired by nature, and sensory language is used to capture a feeling or image. For more information, contact Karen Christiansen, 805.237.3870.
Registration is not required. This class is for ages 16+.
The Paso Robles City Library is located at 1000 Spring Street and is open Monday – Friday 10-8, and Saturday 10-5. For more information on library programs and events, please call 237-3870 or visit www.prcity.com/library.
