At approximately 1800 hrs. on July 22nd, Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services was dispatched to the area of 3200 Sulphur Springs Rd. for a vegetation fire.
The initial arriving units found the fire burning at a moderate rate of spread in dense vegetation in the riverbed with difficult access.
Two fire engines, one squad, two battalion chiefs and the Fire Chief from Paso Robles responded. Under the City’s automatic and mutual aid agreements, three fire engines, two hand crews, a water tender, one prevention officer, and two chief officers from CAL FIRE/SLO County, one engine from Camp Roberts Fire, one engine from Templeton Fire and one engine from Atascadero Fire immediately responded. A total of 62 firefighters were required to contain the fire. Additional assistance was provided by Cal Fire Air Attack, Paso Robles Public Works and the Paso Robles Police Department.
Fire was contained at 1900 hrs. Crews remained on scene until 10:00 p.m. to complete mop up. Total acreage burned was approximately 2 acres. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
