Walk and Design Workshop, November 4, 2019

Paso Robles, CA – The City of Paso Robles is hosting an interactive Walk and Community Design Workshop on November 4, 2019.  The walk and workshop will explore and identify ways to improve automobile, bus, bicycle, and pedestrian use of Niblick Road.  Residents and users of all ages and abilities are welcome and encouraged to attend.

The event will kick off with a Niblick Road Walking Assessment  from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m., beginning at Paso Robles High School, Bearcat Hall, 801 Niblick Road. Participants will observe conditions along a portion of Niblick Road, and discuss where and how improvements might be made. (Please wear comfortable walking shoes.) The Community Design Workshop will take place after the walk.  The Community Design Workshop will be at Paso Robles High School Bearcat Hall from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Participants will learn about the latest tools and strategies for complete streets and become community designers as they craft their own solutions improve safety and walkability of Niblick Road. You will be able to share your ideas with your friends and neighbors.

This workshop is part of a series of activities and meetings to develop the Niblick Road Complete and Sustainable Streets Corridor Plan. There will be a Protected Bike Lane and Crosswalk Demonstration the afternoon of November 6th, and a Closing Community Workshop on November 7th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00pm where the community can share comments and guidance about the design team’s draft recommendations. The plan will address safety, walking, bicycling, and transit along the stretch of Niblick Road between Vine Street and Fontana Road.

The outcome of walk and workshop will be a Complete Streets Plan.  The Plan will identify projects for roadway, intersection, sidewalk, and bicycle lane upgrades to move users through the corridor and improved overall roadway operations.  Once complete, the plan will be used to prioritize future projects and make the City eligible to receive transportation grant funding.
