The City of Paso Robles is a workshop to gather input on the future of the parks and public areas in the Sherwood Acres neighborhood.

PASO ROBLES, CA – The City of Paso Robles is hosting the second of three events to gather input on the future of the parks and public areas in the Sherwood Acres neighborhood.

The Sherwood Park Area Master Plan Community Meeting and Workshop is being held on Wednesday, September 26 at 6:00PM in the banquet room at the Paso Robles Senior Center at 270 Scott Street.

Led by SSA Landscape Architects, this meeting will provide community and neighborhood residents an opportunity to share all their ideas for the future of recreation in the Sherwood Acres neighborhood. Attendees of the workshop will be asked to help brainstorm enhancements to Sherwood Park, Sherwood Forest, Oak Creek Park and Sherwood Dog Park as well as the undeveloped creek areas.  Ultimately, the master plan process will provide a road map for the development of real projects in the future.

This workshop is the second of three events planned to gather community input about the future of the parks in Sherwood. The first event in the master plan process took place on August 11, 2018. Sherwood neighborhood residents were treated to an outdoor screening of Guardians of the Galaxy, preceded by a park filled with food trucks, giant chalkboards and painted plywood oak trees on which to share their ideas for improvements to Sherwood Park, Sherwood Forest, Oak Creek Park and the Oak Creek Park walking trails. Attendees ranged in age from 5-75 and provided suggestions that included a splash pad, Mom’s Night Out activities and “more outdoor movie nights,” among many other suggestions.

This upcoming workshop will gather attendees into small groups to consider all ideas and determine how they may best be incorporated into future projects.

About the Sherwood Park Area Master Plan Project:

Funding for the Sherwood Park Master Plan was approved in the FY16/17 budget and allocates funding to research and develop a master plan for the parks in the Sherwood Acres neighborhood, based on community input and neighborhood user needs. The Master Plan will provide a “road map” for any future updates to the park that will be funded through the City’s budget projects and/or grant funding.
