Phased Reopening Update

The State has moved a number of areas into early stage 2.

Before reopening, all facilities must do the following. The State is also providing additional industry specific reopening guidance.
  1. Perform a risk assessment and implement a site-specific protection plan.
  2. Train employees on how to limit the spread of COVID-19.
  3. Implement individual control measures and screenings.
  4. Implement disinfecting protocols.
  5. Implement physical distancing guidelines.
Categories permitted to reopen while following state guidelines:Curbside retail
  • Supply chains supporting retail
  • Childcare for those outside of the essential workforce
  • Office-based businesses
  • Landscaping
  • Car washes
  • Outdoor museums/open gallery spaces
  • Pet grooming
All businesses already allowed to operate can continue to do so.  More information and guidance for these types of businesses can be found here. Businesses are not required to open, and telework is still strongly encouraged.

Planning and preparing to reopen is vital to ensuring that businesses can reopen as quickly as possible when the time comes. That preparation should begin now. Restaurants and other business sectors can find new State Guidance for reopening here.

Free Testing Available

No-Cost COVID-19 Testing Now Available for Any SLO County Resident. ALL residents including those without symptoms are eligible for testing at the Paso Robles Veteran’s Center State sponsored testing site.

Tests are still by appointment only. Register online for an appointment or call 888-634-1123.

It is important to get tested, even if you do not have symptoms, because the virus may be spread by people who do not experience symptoms and by those who later develop symptoms.

Conducting a certain number of tests is one of the State’s key criteria for reopening faster. The County will continue to encourage increases in testing and asymptomatic testing as long as resources are available and until a vaccine is available.
