Outdoor Business OptionsThe next phase of outdoor dining in Paso Robles is underway with the addition of new on-street dining on Park Street in front of Yanagi and Fish Gaucho; on Pine in front of Brunch, with a platform in front of Odyssey and Black Cat Bistro to follow. These newest outdoor business options augment others approved by Council during the pandemic, including Dining in the Park and the City’s Parklet Program. See map

Housing Element UpdateThe City of Paso Robles is updating its Housing Element during a public workshop on August 4, 2020. Its is a required Element of the General Plan that includes goals and objectives to achieve housing for all economic segments of the community, including affordable housing. The Housing Element Update requires significant public engagement and input from local stakeholders and residents. Therefore, the public’s participation during this meeting is highly encouraged.

Beechwood Specific Plan Goes Back to Planning CommissionThe Planning Commission reviewed the project at its July 28 meeting and continued it to its August 11 meeting.
The 235-acre site is located in the southeast corner of the city; south of Meadowlark, east of Virginia Peterson Elementary, and north of Creston Road.
If approved by the Planning Commission and City Council, the project would result in the development of 911 residential units, 5.6 acres of commercial and mixed-use development; an 8-acre public park; and 20 acres of open space. Project details

Filing Period Open for 2020 City Council and Treasurer ElectionOn November 3, 2020, Paso Robles residents will have the opportunity to vote for two open Councilmember seats - one in District 3 and one in District 4. The position of City Treasurer is also up for election this year. Each position serves a four-year term. The period for filing Nomination Papers is July 13 – August 7, 2020. Details

Book to Action MonthThe Paso Robles City Library is pleased to present a special series of classes and events for community members. Engage in learning about housing insecurity through reading, discussion, and action. Funding provided by the California Center for the Book. Community partners include: Paso Robles Library Foundation, SLO Legal Assistance Foundation, Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County. California Center for the Book is a program of the California Library Association, supported in whole or in part by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered in California by the State Librarian.

August Food DriveThroughout the month, take action to help alleviate hunger in our community. Donating is easy! Bring in unexpired items from the following list and place them in the bins provided: 1. Standard or larger sized cans of soup, chili, stew, fruits or vegetables. 2. Six-ounce or larger sized cans of meat, chicken, or seafood. 3. One pound or larger sized packages of dried rice or pasta. 4. Family-sized boxes of foods such as macaroni and cheese or add-hamburger entrees. Bring in 10 or more cans and receive a thank you gift from the Library.

City Hires Economic Development ManagerThe City of Paso Robles is welcoming Paul Sloan as its new Economic Development Manager. Mr. Sloan has roughly 20 years of experience in marketing, tourism management, and business development. As part of the FY 2020-21 budget process, City Council decided to bring the economic development function in-house given the economic impacts of the pandemic and the critical nature of economic response and recovery.
