California Secures $4.5 Billion for Lost Wages Assistance Program

Individuals who are currently eligible to receive at least $100 per week in unemployment benefits may qualify for an additional $300 weekly supplement


The Lost Wages Assistance (LWA) program supplemental payment of $300 per week will be available for a limited period of time, a minimum of three weeks, for claimants who are:
1. currently eligible to receive at least $100 per week in benefits, and

2. who have provided a self-certification that they are unemployed or partially unemployed due to disruptions caused by COVID-19.

The LWA supplement will be available for weeks of unemployment dating back to August 1. EDD will provide more information on this approved program as it becomes
available. Details

Additionally, the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance  program provides unemployment benefits for people who don’t usually qualify for regular Unemployment Insurance. Through December 2020.

Due to increased testing capacity, the County of San Luis Obispo Public Health Department is once again urging anyone with Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) symptoms or who may have been exposed to COVID-19 to get tested at one of the County’s three community testing clinics. You can get tested at any of these locations.

School and Youth Sports Cohorts

On August 25, 2020, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) issued Guidance Related to Cohorts, which sets minimum health and safety guidelines across multiple sectors serving youth, including childcare and schools (public and private) and youth sports

A cohort is a stable group of no more than 14 children or youth and no more than two supervising adults in a supervised environment. The group stays together for all activities, including meals and recreation, and avoids contact with anyone not in their group.

Community COVID-19 Coalition

The COVID-19 crisis has affected the lives of every Paso Robles resident. Efforts to keep the local economy afloat have resulted in a business community committed, for the most part, to adherence to infection control measures. Efforts to address concerns by the general public have been less consistent and effective.

Youth Sports Fields

In compliance with the State of California and San Luis Obispo County guidance, and to help ensure the safety of all coaches and participants, field reservations are now available at Barney Schwartz Park. Field use will be limited to practice and physical conditioning, with competitive play, games and tournaments not yet allowed. Adult league use is still not permitted, per the State and County guidelines. Field use applications are available here.

Evictions, Mortgage and Utility Relief

Eviction moratorium
A statewide freeze is in place on residential evictions through September 30, 2020. Renters in California who cannot pay their rent because of COVID-19-related hardships should know their rights. Learn more about what to do if you can’t pay rent.

Mortgage relief 
Many banks and financial institutions have committed to providing relief for homeowners in California. Find out more about mortgage help and how to get it.

Avoiding utility shut-off
Many utility providers are not shutting off services due to non-payment. Check with the California Public Utilities Commission for more information. The Water Board restricts the shut off of water during the COVID crisis. Please use this form to report any water shutoff or reconnect issue.
