SLO County Still in Red Tier for NowSLO county has met the health metrics to stay in the less restrictive Red Tier in the state's Blueprint for a Safer Economy, but COVID-19 case counts have doubled in the past two weeks, with a significant number of cases originating in Paso. Many cases were transmitted at social gatherings.
Increased case counts (more than 20 per day) jeopardize the ability for SLO County businesses to remain open and for schools to reopen.
If our numbers remain low enough, schools can reopen soon. If our county's metrics worsen for two consecutive weeks, we will go back to the Tier 1 (Purple). If they improve to less than 7 cases per day we can move into the Orange Tier and reopen more businesses. Each Paso Robles resident can help open our schools and keep our businesses open by following the COVID-19 prevention guidance below.

Understanding Our Reopening StatusEvery county in California is assigned to a tier based on its test positivity and adjusted case rate. At a minimum, counties must remain in a tier for at least 3 weeks before moving forward. Data is reviewed weekly and tiers are updated on Tuesdays. To move forward, a county must meet the next tier’s criteria for two consecutive weeks. If a county’s metrics worsen for two consecutive weeks, it will be assigned a more restrictive tier. Public health officials are constantly monitoring data and can step in if necessary. Learn more about tier assignments and metric details here.
