SLO County Still in Red Tier for NowSLO county has met the health metrics to stay in the less restrictive Red Tier in the state's Blueprint for a Safer Economy, but COVID-19 case counts have doubled in the past two weeks, with a significant number of cases originating in the Paso Robles zip code area. Many cases in the county were transmitted at social gatherings.
If our county's metrics worsen for two consecutive weeks, we will go back to the Tier 1 (Purple). If they improve to less than 4 cases per day we can move into the Orange Tier and reopen more businesses.

New Openings Announced This WeekThe California Department of Public Health issued a press release on 3 new sector reopenings. Theme Parks: Smaller facilities may resume outdoor operations and limited capacity in Tier 3 (orange), while larger parks may do so in Tier 4 (yellow). Outdoor Stadiums: Live professional sporting events may operate with limited capacity in Tiers 3 and 4 only with pre-assigned tickets to ensure physical distancing of patrons and other modifications. All Personal Care Services can operate indoors with modifications.

COVID-19 Testing in SLO CountyThe high testing rates in SLO County have helped to keep us in the red tier; our unadjusted case rate this week would have put us back into the purple, more restrictive tier, without the credit we get for doing this testing. No-cost testing with no appointment or ID necessary:

Parks & RecreationPaso Robles Recreation Services is currently offering a wide variety of indoor and outdoor classes at Centennial Park. Enrichment activities include acrylic painting, photography, gardening, dog training and youth science classes. Tenant and Landlord ProtectionsEviction moratorium The statewide freeze on residential evictions has been extended through January 31, 2021. Renters in California who cannot pay their rent because of COVID-19-related hardships should know their rights and responsibilities.
Commercial Eviction Protection On September 23 Governor Newsom signed an executive order to extend authorization for local governments to halt evictions for commercial renters impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic through March 31, 2021, and address a variety of issues in response to the pandemic. Mortgage foreclosure protection and relief Small homeowners have been extended foreclosure protections in a state order passed August 31. Many banks and financial institutions have committed to providing relief for homeowners in California. Find out more about mortgage help and how to get it.
Avoiding utility shut-off Many utility providers are not shutting off services due to non-payment. Check with the California Public Utilities Commission for more information. The Water Board restricts the shut off of water during the COVID crisis. Please use this form to report any water shutoff or reconnect issue.
