Public Forum: Central Coast Community EnergyA number of cities in SLO County, including Paso Robles, opted to switch to Central Coast Community Energy (3CE) for power, for competitive rates and cleaner energy. City Manager RetiringCity Manager Tom Frutchey has announced that after five years of service to the City, his last day is anticipated to be in February or March. Mr. Frutchey indicated that with the passage of Measure J-20 and the imminent start of next year’s budget development process, this feels like the most appropriate time to transfer leadership of the organization to the next generation. Public Hearing: Housing ElementThe City of Paso Robles is updating its Housing Element, a required Element of the General Plan that includes goals and objectives to achieve housing for all economic segments of the community, including affordable housing. The Planning Commission previously held a public hearing on November 10, 2020 on the proposed Housing Element and recommended the City Council approve all the entitlement actions. The City Council will be holding a public hearing on December 1, 2020.

Survey: Union Road-46 East Alignment ProjectThe City of Paso Robles, in cooperation with the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) District 5, is currently preparing a Community Impact Assessment for the proposed project. The assessment will consider effects on recreational facilities/parks, businesses, and community character, among other topics. Learn more about the project and take the survey here.

Super Stocking Drive-Thru Santa’s helpers from Recreation Services and the Paso Police Department have joined forces to plan a safe holiday drive-thru celebration. Load up the family and join the elves for the Super Stocking Drive-Thru Giveaway in the parking lot at Centennial Park on Saturday, December 5 from noon to 2 PM While supplies last, Santa’s elves from the Paso Robles Police Department will be distributing special holiday stockings filled with toys especially for girls or boys to all children present while Recreation Services elves will be handing out special holiday goodie bags filled with treats to help infuse a bit of magic into this holiday season. Mail Your Letters to SantaSanta’s elves have delivered a special mailbox to Centennial Park for children to mail their letters to Santa. This magical mailbox (which offers a great photo-op for the holiday season) will be in the lobby of Centennial Park beginning Monday, November 30 through Thursday, December 17. The lobby will be open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for children to mail their letters. After placing a letter into the mailbox, children will receive a special treat bag from Santa’s elves. Self-Hypnosis: Relieve Stress, Anxiety & Worry (virtual class)While the holidays can contain many magical moments, it’s also true that for many stress, anxiety and worry can tarnish this season as well. During this class, licensed hypnotherapist Art Kuhns of Breaking Day Hypnotherapy will help participants learn to recognize the stress in their lives and provide simple and easy techniques to diminish those emotions that can have negative health consequences. A group hypnosis session is included in the class and all participants will receive an mp3 to download to reinforce the techniques learned during this class on Tuesday, December 8 from 6-8 p.m. $25 (discounts for returning students, active and retired military). PD Turkey DriveHeroes don't always wear capes. Paso Robles PD held a Turkey Drive with Loaves & Fishes for Thanskgiving and between food deliveries and handouts, were able to assist in providing over 200 families with Thanksgiving day meals. Many thanks to PD staff and their families who did deliveries, including Dispatcher McKinley, parking coordinator King, and the entire CAT Team.

WWTP VideoPrior to the pandemic, the Public Works Department hosted many tours of the Wastewater Treatment Plant, especially for school groups interested in learning about the water cycle and water-related careers. Since tours have not been an option, the City produced a new short video that introduces viewers to the interesting technology at the Wastewater Treatment Plant and the City’s plans for a new recycled water supply.
