New "Keep It Local" ProgramThe City of Paso Robles is pleased to announce the launch of a new promotion to encourage Paso residents to support their local businesses. The Paso Robles "Keep it Local" Gift Card Program is designed to generate additional sales revenue for local businesses and save residents money on local goods and services. The program encourages locals to buy full-value gift cards or certificates from Paso Robles businesses at a 20% discount and the City will then reimburse the 20% discount amount back to participating businesses up to $1,000 per business, equating to $5,000 in additional sales revenue per business. Vaccine PlanStarting Monday, January 18, adults 75 years and older can get a COVID-19 vaccination by appointment at one of two clinics in SLO County, including one at the Paso Robles Event Center (fairgrounds). Schedule an appointment at www.RecoverSLO.org or by calling the County’s Phone Assistance Center at (805) 543-2444, which is now available 7 days a week, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Paycheck Protection Program SBA is reopening the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) for First Draw Loans the week of January 11, 2021. First Draw PPP Loans can be used to help fund payroll costs, including benefits. Funds can also be used to pay for mortgage interest, rent, utilities, worker protection costs related to COVID-19, uninsured property damage costs caused by looting or vandalism during 2020, and certain supplier costs and expenses for operations. Unemployment Insurance On December 27, 2020, the President signed legislation to extend federal unemployment benefits. This new legislation: - Restores the federal increase for all unemployment benefits, which adds $300 to each week of benefits for up to 11 weeks through March 13, 2021.
- Adds $300 to regular Unemployment Insurance and FED-ED claims.
- Extends Pandemic Unemployment Assistance and Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation by 11 weeks.
- Continues the federally funded FED-ED through March 14, 2021, providing up to 20 weeks of benefits.
- Provides a supplement of $100 per week to certain “mixed earners” who received at least $5,000 a year in self-employment income but were eligible for regular unemployment. Details

Using Youth Evolution’s progressive curriculum and focusing on the whole player, this camp will teach your child the important skills needed both on and off the court. Translation Service Now AvailableThe City of Paso Robles has announced it will begin using a new translation service to help callers more quickly. The service allows City staff to easily connect to a third-party translation service via a conference call. Senior Tax Assistance AARP-Tax Aide will be at the Senior Center Monday through Friday from February 1 through April 1 from 9 to 12 for drive up and drop off service only. There will not be any in-person tax preparation. No appointments will be taken. When you arrive, please stay in your car with your mask on. A Tax Aide representative will meet you at your car window, give you forms to prepare, and take all your 2020 tax documents. Please make sure you have all your documents. Please do not come unless you have all your tax documents. When your tax return is ready in 7 to 14 days, you will be called and asked to return to sign and pick it up. Salinas River CleanupBetween December 17th and January 8th the Paso Robles Police Department CAT team facilitated a trash cleanup in the Salinas Riverbed. A local company was contracted and removed over 64,000 pounds of trash from the riverbed at a cost of $38,290. Crews will be in the riverbed next week cleaning additional sites in the riverbed south of Niblick Bridge. This is an ongoing process until the rains limit access into the riverbed.

Chamber Hires Danna Stroud as Government Affairs CoordinatorThe Paso Robles Chamber of Commerce has hired Danna Stroud to lead the Chamber in increased advocacy engagement by serving as the new Government Affairs and Public Policy Coordinator. Danna was raised in Paso Robles and has over 30 years of experience in the tourism and outdoor recreation industries. Throughout her career, she has advocated for change and helped frame policy and legislative issues at the local and state levels. In her new role with the Chamber, Danna will analyze and advise on local, regional and state issues that are relevant to the Paso Robles business community.
