New Pandemic Relief PackageThis week, Governor Newsom signed into law a comprehensive package of immediate actions that will speed needed relief to individuals, families, and businesses suffering the most significant economic hardship due to COVID-19. Assistance includes: • Cash relief to lower-income Californians • Increased aid to small businesses • License renewal fee waivers to businesses impacted by the pandemic • Additional resources for critical child care services • Emergency financial aid for community college students

Vaccine Lottery SystemNext week the county will switch to a lottery-based vaccine appointment system that requires people to register for vaccine appointments only once. Health care workers, long-term care facility residents and employees and people age 65 and older can register online at RecoverSLO.org. The county will then electronically and randomly select a portion of those registered to fill appointment slots that week, based on vaccine allocation made available to the county. Appointments in Paso Robles may come available this week, register here. 15% of SLO County's population has now been fully vaccinated.

Some Youth and Adult Sports Can ResumeOutdoor high-contact sports can now be played in SLO County with some modifications based on new guidance from the California Public Health Department. Weekly testing will be required for football, soccer, rugby and water polo participants age 13 and over. Weekly testing is required for all participants and coaches in these sports. Outdoor moderate-contact sports, such as baseball, cheerleading and softball, can be played in these counties without the testing requirement. Details En Espanol

"Keep It Local" Gift Card ProgramThe City of Paso Robles has a program to encourage Paso residents to support their local businesses. The Paso Robles "Keep it Local" Gift Card Program generates sales revenue for local businesses while saving residents money on local goods and services. The program allows locals to buy full-value gift cards or certificates from Paso Robles businesses at a 20% discount, and the City reimburses the 20% discount amount back to participating business up to $1,000. Propane Assistance ProgramThe Paso Robles City Council allocated $100,000 toward the purchase of propane as part of the COVID Economic Recovery Program to assist local businesses. The Paso Robles Chamber of Commerce is administering the program on behalf of the City.
Program stipulations include: - Must have a valid City of Paso Robles business license
- Businesses must certify COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions and adhere to the City of Paso Robles Fire Department’s guide for the safe use of portable gas-fired heaters
- Amount of reimbursement is equal to 50% total expense, not to exceed $700/month
- Receipts dated January 1, 2021 - March 31, 2021 are eligible for reimbursement
- Receipts will be evaluated for reimbursement on a monthly basis. Forms must be completed in full with applicable documentation included and received before the 7th of the following month

New Senior Food Delivery ServiceSLO Food Bank, Ride On and Wilshire Services are now offering home grocery delivery to homebound seniors age 60 and older. Eviction ProtectionCalifornians facing financial hardship because of the COVID-19 pandemic will be protected from eviction through June 30 as long as they pay part of their rent under an emergency bill signed by the Governor on Friday, February 5. The bill provides eviction protection for tenants who pay at least 25% of their rent through June and provides $2.6 billion in federal funds for rent subsidies that will help pay most past-due rent by low-income tenants dating back to last April. Mortgage AssistanceThis page describes protections under two new state laws: the Tenant, Homeowner, and Small Landlord Relief and Stabilization Act of 2020 (AB 3088), which took effect on August 31, 2020; and the COVID-19 Tenant Relief Act (SB 91), which took effect on February 1, 2021. SB 91 makes available financial assistance to qualified landlords and tenants for a tenant’s unpaid rent during the 13-month period between March 1, 2020 and March 31, 2021. Unemployment InsuranceIn December 2020, the federal government passed legislation providing an additional 11 weeks of benefits. This is in addition to the additional 13 weeks of unemployment benefits that was part of the CARES Act. The legislation also includes a $300 per week supplement to unemployment benefits.
