Zoom meetup: Thursday, April 8, 7:00-8:00 pm
Indulge your sweet tooth all year long with 84 recipes that highlight honey varietals. Download the book from hoopla for free, make a recipe, then share your success at the Zoom meetup. Space is limited. Registration is required for each participant to receive craft kits and information about the ZOOM meetup. For ages 16+.

Beehive Cross Stitch Craft

Registration deadline: April 15  
Zoom meetup: Thursday, April 22, 7:00-8:00 pm 
Create a counted beehive cross stitch piece using simple cross stitch on Aida cloth. All supplies and instruction are included. Space is limited. Registration is required for each participant to receive craft materials and Zoom meetup information. For ages 16+.

Book Group Reads: The Honey Bus by Meredith May

Zoom meetup: Thursday, April 15, 7:00-8:00 pm  
May’s memoir is an extraordinary story of a girl, her grandfather, and one of nature’s most mysterious and beguiling creatures: the honeybee. There are several ways to access the title. 

  • Check out a regular or large print hard copy or the book on CD from the library 
  • Download an eBook edition through the OverDrive platform
  • Download an e-Audiobook edition through the hoopla platform.

Film Discussion

Thursday April 29, 7:00-8:00 pm  
Watch the 2008 film, starring Queen Latifah and Dakota Fanning, based on the bestselling novel The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd then join the discussion of the themes raised in the film. Film is rated PG-13 and copies are available for checkout. Space is limited. Registration is required for each participant to receive Zoom meetup information. For ages 16+.

In celebration of the Cuesta Book of the Year selection, The Honey Bus, by Meredith May, the Children’s Library will incorporate bee themes into its Story Times and Try It! Tuesday activity April 5-9.
