National Alliance on Mental Illness

The Library will partner with the local National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI) in offering a series of quarterly presentations about mental health issues. On Wednesday, June 9, 7:00 p.m., NAMI representative Pam Zweifl will present information on the types of services NAMI offers to our local community and how to help loved ones who may be facing a mental illness.
Space is limited. Registration for each family member is required to receive the ZOOM meeting information. This event is for ages 16+.

Embroidery Craft--The Great Wave of Kanagawa

Using satin stitch and back stitch, create your own version of this classic work of Asian art—The Great Wave of Kanagawa by Katsushika Hokusai.
Space is limited. Registration with a library card is required for each participant to receive craft materials and Zoom meetup information. For ages 16+.

Paso Robles Library Book Group Reads: Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi

Zoom meetup: Wednesday, June 16, 7:00-8:00 pm
In a small back alley of Tokyo, there is a café that serves coffee and with it the chance to travel back in time. But only for as long as it takes for the coffee to get cold. If you could go back in time, who would you want to meet? The title is available through the Black Gold Library System and the hoopla platform. Space is limited. Registration is required for each participant to receive ZOOM meetup information.  For ages 16+.

Reading Rocks! The Music, Bubble, and Comedy Show

Color Your World with a LIVE high-energy music and comedy show for all ages on Thursday, June 17, 11:00 am. Reading Rocks! encourages reading and a love of books by engaging children (and adults!) with songs, comedy, bubbles, and music technology. Best of all, it’s inclusive for all children, including those on the autism spectrum. Registration is required (one per household) to get the link to participate in this program.

Traveling Lantern--Rainbow Lizard

Week of June 20-26
Pablo Del Peacock (the famous portrait artist) is trying to paint a picture of beautiful Monique Gecko, but every morning she arrives a different color and he has to begin all over again. He and his friend, Fatima Flamingo (taking a break from her Flamenco lessons), search for answers. When they solve the mystery and Pablo learns about Monique’s diverse heritage, he decides to paint his new masterpiece using all the colors of the rainbow. One registration per household is required to receive the link to join the program. The filmed performance will be accessible to watch at participants’ convenience any time between Sunday, June 20 and Saturday, June 26.

Pre-School Story Time with Miss Melissa is Now Outdoors and In Person!

Pre-registration and masks required.
Mondays, 10:00 am

Read stories, sing songs, and get some wiggles out, then take a craft kit home and complete. In compliance with current public health guidelines, masks are required for everyone over the age of 2 and each family group in attendance will be assigned a physically-distanced color mat, making it easy for everyone to stay healthy and have fun!

Popular children’s library program Try It! Tuesdays will be revamped for the summer with Grab & Go kits! Stop by the library to pick up a kit containing everything you will need to participate then tune in to Facebook on Tuesdays at 4 pm to Try It! with Miss Melissa. It’s fast, it’s fun, and it’s free! Grab & Go kits will be available a week before the program while supplies last.
