Weed Abatement Due May 1To prepare for the upcoming fire season, Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services would like to remind residents and property owners about the City’s weed abatement program. With the lack of seasonal rain this year, it is especially important that property owners reduce hazardous vegetation as soon as possible. Please clear all combustible vegetation, including dead leaves, weeds, brush, and tree limbs no later than May 1. More details and guidelines here.

Paid Parking Extended HoursPaso Robles is expanding the hours of paid parking downtown. Starting May 1, paid parking hours will be 7 days a week from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Parking is free for the first two hours when you register your license plate, and $1 per hour for additional time. To pay for parking or register for your free two hours, visit any one of the 34 pay stations around downtown or use the WayToPark app. The paid parking area has not changed.

Grazing of Firebreaks in RiverbedThe City of Paso Robles will begin grazing the primary firebreaks within the Salinas River on Monday May 3. The City’s Vegetation Management Plan identifies grazing as an approved method to reduce hazardous fuels and minimize the risk of a devastating wildfire. The size and complexity of the project will require 300-500 goats per day. Details

Outdoor Dining SurveyThe Paso Robles restaurant community in collaboration with Main Street would like to hear from you regarding outside dining. The City of Paso Robles created on-street dining in July 2020 and plans to extend the program through October 31, 2021, with potential fees in place to keep parklets in place for 3-5 years. Please take 3 minutes to fill out this short survey by Friday, May 7.

New Sewer Rates AdoptedOn April 20, City Council adopted new sewer rates for the next five years. The first rate increase becomes effective July 1, and includes a new fixed component of $11.40 per month for residential customers. The rate increases are needed to pay for necessary improvements to the City’s wastewater system.

Restaurant Revitalization FundThe American Rescue Plan Act established the Restaurant Revitalization Fund (RRF) to provide funding to help restaurants, bars, wineries and other eligible businesses keep their doors open. Registration for the SBA application portal will begin on Friday, April 30, 2021, at 9 am ET. Applications will open on Monday, May 3 at noon ET.

Summer Fun Sign-Up Day Join Recreation Services for a safe and socially distanced Summer Fun Sign-Up Day on Saturday, May 1 from 9 a.m. to noon at Centennial Park (600 Nickerson Drive). Register early for summer swim lessons along with a variety of summer youth recreation classes. Recreation and aquatics staff will be available to answer questions. Firefighters Sworn InOn April 21, Paso Robles Fire Department proudly welcomed five new firefighters, promoted three Fire Engineers, and three Fire Captains.
Three of the new firefighters were 100% funded by a federal grant for three years. Hiring these three firefighters allowed the department to staff a third fire engine which will occupy the new fire station three on Union Rd., once completed. Staffing a third fire engine and the third fire station were both requirements of accepting the grant.
Staffing a third fire engine also required that we promote three Fire Engineers and three Fire Captains. All those promoted were internal candidates.
Our new Firefighters include: Sheldon Montgomery- resides in Creston and came from Cal Fire Santa Clara Unit Noah Munds- resides in Los Osos and came from Fort Hunter Liggett Fire Dept. Josh Ruiz- resides in Santa Barbara and came from Santa Barbara Co. Fire Dept. Stan Atchison- resides in San Luis Obispo and came from Cal Fire Fresno Unit JD Miller-resides in San Simeon and came from Cal Fire Tulare Unit
Congratulations to our newest Fire Engineers: Jacob Flores, Anthony Gutierrez, and Justin Ludwig. Congratulations to our newest Fire Captains: Charles Brown, Joel Platter, and Nate Bass.

Translation Services AvailableThe City of Paso Robles is using a new translation service to help callers more quickly. The service allows City staff to easily connect to a third-party translation service via a conference call. The service has been in use by the Police Department for some time and will now be available to all departments when callers access the City’s information line at 805.227.7276.
