Fireworks Prohibited in Paso RoblesAs we approach the upcoming 4th of July holiday, Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services would like to remind our community that ALL fireworks are illegal in the City of Paso Robles. Using fireworks in the City limits is punishable by fines up to $1000. Even “Safe and Sane” fireworks can be very dangerous, sparklers burn at over 1800 degrees and cause burn injuries to children each year. In-Person Meetings ReturnWith the reopening of California and removal of meeting capacity restrictions, the City of Paso Robles will return to in-person meetings for its City Council, Planning Commission and advisory bodies beginning July 8. Masks will be required for unvaccinated individuals attending in-person meetings. City Council will be discussing audiovisual options for meetings on July 8. More information

New Upgrades in the LibraryThanks to funding from the Paso Robles Library Foundation, the City Library has brand new tables throughout, plus improved accessibility, spaciousness, and lighting. In the children’s area, the new tables are accompanied by a new interactive learning kiosk, an early literacy computer station, a collection of dyslexic-friendly and large-print books, and a fresh new ocean-themed decor to match the iconic fish tank. July 1 (available all month) – Shadow Factory – Shadow School Workshop SeriesShadow School is a cross-curricular virtual puppetry program designed for elementary-aged audiences. It features a series of 3 engaging, self-paced online workshops that cover the science of shadows, poetry-writing, and shadow puppet-making. While these workshops are geared toward elementary-aged participants, anyone interested in learning about the art of shadow puppetry is welcome to register for this workshop series. Registration is required for each participant. Once registered, participant will be emailed a code giving them access to all three workshops for the entire month of July!

Teen Paint with Miss MelissaThursday, July 8, 11:00 am Register to reserve your seat in our virtual paint party just for teens! Once you’ve registered, stop by the library to pick up your painting kit, containing everything you will need to join Miss Melissa on Thursday, July 8th at 11 am on Zoom. This virtual paint party will walk participants through painting an evening desert scene. Prefer the mountains? Maybe a redwood forest? No problem! This project can be customized to suite your scenery of choice in any colors you like!

Translation Services AvailableThe City of Paso Robles is using a new translation service to help callers more quickly. The service allows City staff to easily connect to a third-party translation service via a conference call. The service has been in use by the Police Department for some time and will now be available to all departments when callers access the City’s information line at 805.227.7276.
