COVID-19 Cases Increasing

COVID-19 cases continue to surge. We are currently experiencing the most dramatic slope increase of new cases since the pandemic began and the numbers locally are nearing an all-time high. Paso Robles is leading the county in COVID-19 cases. Our hospitals, ICUs, and emergency services personnel are being critically impacted. Virtual Public Meetings

Effective immediately, City Council and Planning Commission meetings will be virtual only. Meetings will be live-streamed and also available to play later on YouTube. Residents who would like to provide public comment for City Council or Planning Commission meetings can call (805) 865-7276 to provide public comment via phone during each meeting. More information

Testing Site Moves to Train Station

The Paso Robles no-cost COVID-19 testing site (formerly at Centennial Park) is now open at the Paso Robles Train Station. Testing is available Monday - Friday from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. Closed from 11 - 12  and 4 - 5 pm. If you need to register by phone, call 1-888-634-1123 or register online.

New Homes Under Construction

The first tract homes in Paso Robles to be built since the 2007 recession began are under construction now. The project will be constructed in four phases over 6-8 years, and includes 271 single-family homes in both gated and open neighborhoods. More details

Emergency Response Training 

The North San Luis Obispo County Community Emergency Response Training (CERT) teaches residents basic disaster response skills.  Learn how to prepare for disasters, basic first aid, the psychology of disaster, how to extinguish small fires, safe structure search and rescue, and about terrorism and hazardous materials. The City of Paso Robles, in partnership with CalTrans and the Upper Salinas-Las Tablas Resource Conservation District (USLTRCD), is planning improvements to Centennial Creek and is looking for public input on the project at a Virtual Open House on August 31, 2021 from 5:30-7:00PM.

Future of Recreation "World Café"

Paso Robles Recreation Services held a public workshop on August 18 to continue planning the future of recreation services for the city of Paso Robles. The workshop used the "World Café" format, a method that helps participants explore an issue in depth in small table groups. The results of the session will be presented to City Council on October 5.

Fort Hunter Liggett Meeting

Mayor Martin spoke at the Community Relations Meeting held on August 18th at Fort Hunter Liggett and presented various challenges and opportunities facing Paso Robles and highlighted economic development actions underway including the Paso Robles Spaceport initiative.  Also present for the meeting were representatives of King City, Soledad, SLO Regional Transit Authority, Camp Roberts, and the Presidio of Monterey.

Bicycle Pump Track Survey

The City of Paso Robles has engaged the services Olympic skateark builder to design a new bicycle pump track at Barney Schwartz Park and is seeking community input from future users of the track on what design features they might like to see included. California Skateparks is asking for input from the Paso Robles community on requested features in the pump track prior to beginning design. Learn more and take the survey.

After School Enrichment Registration Now Open

After school movement and enrichment opportunities through Paso Robles Recreation Services beginning in September include: Art Park Enrichment Classes (ages 5-8), Jedi & Butterfly Creative Dance (ages 4-8), Hip Hop/Latin Dance (ages 10-14), Toddler & Preschooler Yoga, Music & Movement (ages 1-5) , Youth Evolution Basketball (ages 3.5-11), Youth Evolution Soccer (ages 2.5-13) begins Friday, August 27 and Shorin Ryu Karate (ages 8-adult). Need-based youth scholarships are available for all city of Paso Robles Recreation classes.

Beginning Dog Training

Dog trainer and animal behavior expert Kathy Kropp will teach the entire family how to become the pack leader gently and without force during this introductory class.  This class covers the basic exercises necessary to have a well mannered family companion for life.  Thursdays, 6-7 p.m. September 2-October 7 at Centennial Park. $115

Ballroom Dance for Fun

Enjoy a night out with your partner, learn a new skill, and get great exercise at the same time! Ballroom dance is for all ages and abilities from beginners to skilled.  The September class will focus on learning and practicing the swing and fox trot.  Wednesdays, 7-8 p.m. at Centennial Park September 8-29. $67/couple.

The Adult Craft Series has a new format! To participate in the Tree of Life Macrame class, register before September 16; once signed up, you will receive details about craft kit pickup night on Thursday, September 23. Work on your kit until Thursday, October 14, when Tree of Life projects can be shared and next month’s craft kit can be picked up. Space is limited. Registration with a library card is required for each participant.

"Creating 805" Speaker Series

Creating 805 will take place on third Fridays at THE SANDBOX, highlighting and celebrating creative entrepreneurship on CA's Central Coast. Events are donation based and open to the public. 75 tickets available per event. Will provide time after discussions to give local creatives and entrepreneurs opportunities to connect, collaborate, and get work done.

Translation Services Available

The City of Paso Robles is using a new translation service to help callers more quickly. The service allows City staff to easily connect to a third-party translation service via a conference call. The service has been in use by the Police Department for some time and will now be available to all departments when callers access the City’s information line at 805.227.7276.
