Public Hearing: Trash Ordinance

The State Legislature passed Senate Bill 1383 to reduce disposal of organic material to landfills by 75% by 2025. Regulations require all cities, residential households, multifamily dwellings, commercial businesses, commercial edible food generators, waste haulers, and food recovery organizations to reduce organic waste disposal in landfills. A Public Hearing on November 16 will discuss a proposed solid waste ordinance.

New Assistant City Manager 

The City of Paso Robles is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Assistant City Manager, Chris Huot (Hue-Ott), effective January 3, 2022. Over 40 applications for the position were received by the city. The process included multiple interview sessions with the community, city staff, and the City Council enabling all participants to provide their feedback to the City Manager prior to the final selection. Throughout the extensive selection process, Mr. Huot consistently ranked as the top candidate. More details

Supplemental Sales Tax Meeting

The Supplemental Sales Tax Committee provides a forum for citizens to review and report to both the City Council and the community as a whole on matters relating to Supplemental Sales Tax revenues and expenditures resulting from both Measure E-12, approved by the voters in 2012, and Measure J-20, approved by the voters in 2020. The next committee meeting takes place on November 17. View agenda

Youth Evolution Basketball Thanksgiving Camp

Join Youth Evolution Basketball for a special three-day skills camp to help your child stay active and engaged in a safe environment. Using Youth Evolution’s progressive curriculum and focusing on the whole player, this camp will teach your child the important skills needed both on and off the court.  This camp is for players ages 5-12. Monday, November 22 through Wednesday, November 24 from 3:15 to 5:45 p.m. in the Centennial Park Gym. $100 (includes a basketball jersey). $10 sibling discount available. Youth Evolution Soccer Academy 3 Day Thanksgiving Camp

This camp will focus on helping your soccer player ages 5-12 develop age appropriate skills during fun games and drills while also working on improving team interaction. Players ages 5-7 (level 2) and 8-12 (level 3) will work with a coach on skills specific to their age and ability.  Monday, November 22 through Wednesday, November 24 from 3:30-5 p.m. at Larry Moore Park in Paso Robles.  $98 (includes a soccer jersey).  $10 sibling discount available.  Learn more and register here.

Pickleball 101

During this three day class taught by certified pickleball instructor Janice Mundee new players will learn court terminology, types of shots, how to play doubles and how to score.  Families and individuals ages 12 and older are welcome!  Monday, November 22 through Wednesday November 24 from 1-2:30 p.m. on the Centennial Park Pickleball courts.  $55 registration + $20 supply fee per family for The Official Pickleball Workbook.  A pickleball paddle, cover and ball can be purchased form the instructor at class for an additional $25.  Learn more and register here. 

Youth scholarships are available for all recreation classes.

Tuesdays: Try It! Tuesday Kit Pick Up Day! Every Tuesday, come on in to pick up one of our STEAM themed kits, which includes everything you need to complete the activity – even instructions! Try It! kits are great for all ages, but children under 6 will need help for most projects. Available while supplies last.

Thanksgiving Volunteers Needed

Thanksgiving for Paso Robles is 100 percent organized and executed by volunteers. We expect a large turnout this year again and your assistance is needed more than ever. There’s a lot to do! We have to raise the money to buy the food, pick it up, prepare it, package it up, and serve it. And, of course, we need to prepare the drive-thru space to do all of this. There’s pre-cleaning, packaging, and more cleaning. More details

Foster Care Needed in Paso Robles

SLO County is currently facing an unprecedented shortage of available resource family homes to care for foster youth, 51 of whom are from Paso Robles. The two most pressing needs are for homes willing to provide short-term care as an emergency shelter home or homes willing to care for school-aged youth ages 6-18, especially teenagers. Translation Services Available

The City of Paso Robles uses a translation service to help callers more quickly. The service allows City staff to easily connect to a third-party translation service via a conference call. The service has been in use by the Police Department for some time and is now available in all departments when callers access the City’s information line at 805.227.7276.
