New Police ChiefThe City of Paso Robles has announced the appointment of Police Chief Damian Nord. Chief Nord assumed his new position with the City on Tuesday, December 21, 2021. Chief Nord comes to us from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office and worked for the City of Paso Robles as a Police Officer in 2007. Nord holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Emergency Management and attended the Executive Leadership Program at USC Price School of Public Policy. More details

Downtown Parking Advisory CommissionThe City of Paso Robles is now accepting applications for appointment to the Downtown Parking Advisory Commission, which aids the City Council in gathering public input on the operation, continued development, and management of the Paso Robles Downtown Parking program. Planning Commission OpeningsThe City of Paso Robles is now accepting applications for appointment to the Planning Commission. Appointments will be for 3-year terms expiring February 28, 2025. Commissioners can expect to dedicate 15 - 20 hours each month to meetings, subcommittee meetings and meeting preparation. Housing Authority OpeningsThe City of Paso Robles is now accepting applications for appointments to fill two vacancies on the Paso Robles Housing Authority Board of Commissioners. The Housing Authority is a separate agency from the City of Paso Robles, and advises Public Housing Management and determines policy, procedures and direction of the Housing Authority. Supplemental Sales Tax Committee The City of Paso Robles is now accepting applications for appointments to fill two at-large member positions for the Supplemental Sales Tax Oversight Committee (SSTOC). Applicants are encouraged to review the SSTOC Bylaws for a complete overview of the committee’s purpose, roles, and responsibilities. Applications are due by Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 5:00 pm. Roundabout Out to BidThe City is pleased to announce that the proposed improvement project at Golden Hill and Union Road is currently out to bid. Construction bids are due on January 27, 2022, and actual road closures will occur sometime in March 2022. Numerous project signs and detour signs will be in place to provide guidance to motorists for alternative routes. Construction will take 9-12 months. Details

Youth Evolution Basketball CampUsing Youth Evolution’s progressive curriculum and focusing on the whole player, this camp will teach your child the important skills needed both on and off the court. Our coaches will focus on respect, teamwork, and responsibility. After a week of passing, shooting and dribbling, your player will enjoy increased confidence in their basketball skills. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, January 3-5 from 3:30-6:30 p.m.in the Centennial Park Gym. $100 (includes Youth Evolution Basketball jersey). Sibling discount and scholarships available. Ages 5-12. Youth Water Polo CampDuring this eight-class camp swimmers ages 10-14 will learn or improve their skills with Paso Robles High School water polo coach Collin Moore. Participants must be water safe and capable of swimming 50 yards of the pool and treading water for two minutes. Tuesdays and Thursdays, January 4-27 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Municipal Pool. $45 registration + $45 annual insurance fee for first time students. $5 sibling/returning student discount. Beginning PhotographyDuring this class for beginning photography students taught by professional photographer Sharon West, you’ll learn about camera settings and how they work together to produce great images. The Science Behind FrozenJoin us this winter for this special science camp for children ages four to seven. Nichole Guidotti, microbiologist turned kindergarten teacher, will bring the film Frozen to life for young scientists as they explore the science of ice and water. Together students will create their own snowstorms, harness Elsa's ice powers with the touch of their fingers, melt ice castles and of course build a snowman. Come freeze with us! Translation Services AvailableThe City of Paso Robles uses a translation service to help callers more quickly. The service allows City staff to easily connect to a third-party translation service via a conference call. The service has been in use by the Police Department for some time and is now available in all departments when callers access the City’s information line at 805.227.7276.
