New Police Chief

The City of Paso Robles has announced the appointment of Police Chief Damian Nord.  Chief Nord assumed his new position with the City on Tuesday, December 21, 2021. Chief Nord comes to us from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office and worked for the City of Paso Robles as a Police Officer in 2007.  Nord holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Emergency Management and attended the Executive Leadership Program at USC Price School of Public Policy.  More details

Downtown Parking Advisory Commission

The City of Paso Robles is now accepting applications for appointment to the Downtown Parking Advisory Commission, which aids the City Council in gathering public input on the operation, continued development, and management of the Paso Robles Downtown Parking program. Applications are due by Wednesday, January 5, 2022. MLK Unity Walk  

Each year the community comes together to honor the great Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a Unity Walk in Paso Robles. This year's theme is "To Bridge That Which Divides Us, the Power of Kindness". Planning Commission Openings

The City of Paso Robles is now accepting applications for appointment to the Planning Commission. Appointments will be for 3-year terms expiring February 28, 2025.  Commissioners can expect to dedicate 15 - 20 hours each month to meetings, subcommittee meetings and meeting preparation. Applications are due by Friday, January 21, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. at Paso Robles City Hall, 1000 Spring Street, Paso Robles, CA 93446. Housing Authority Openings

The City of Paso Robles is now accepting applications for appointments to fill two vacancies on the Paso Robles Housing Authority Board of Commissioners. The Housing Authority is a separate agency from the City of Paso Robles, and advises Public Housing Management and determines policy, procedures and direction of the Housing Authority. Applications are due by Friday, January 21, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. at  Paso Robles City Hall, 1000 Spring Street, Paso Robles, CA 93446. Supplemental Sales Tax Committee 

The City of Paso Robles is now accepting applications for appointments to fill two at-large member positions for the Supplemental Sales Tax Oversight Committee (SSTOC). Applicants are encouraged to review the SSTOC Bylaws for a complete overview of the committee’s purpose, roles, and responsibilities.

With funding from the California State Library, the Paso Robles City Library is pleased to make available several new tools from some of the top online learning companies to help library users with job training, skill building, test preparations and professional development. The Library is open Monday-Friday 9-7 and Saturday 9-4. Details

Roundabout Out to Bid

The City is pleased to announce that the proposed improvement project at Golden Hill and Union Road is currently out to bid. Construction bids are due on January 27, 2022, and actual road closures will occur sometime in March 2022. Numerous project signs and detour signs will be in place to provide guidance to motorists for alternative routes. Construction will take 9-12 months. Details

Upcoming City Council Meeting

The next Paso Robles City Council meeting takes place on January 18, 2022 beginning at 6:30PM. Residents can attend in person or listen live and view the presentations on the City's YouTube channel here. To provide public comment during the meeting, call (805) 865-PASO (7276). Youth Evolution Basketball Camp

Using Youth Evolution’s progressive curriculum and focusing on the whole player, this camp will teach your child the important skills needed both on and off the court. Our coaches will focus on respect, teamwork, and responsibility. After a week of passing, shooting and dribbling, your player will enjoy increased confidence in their basketball skills. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, January 3-5 from 3:30-6:30 p.m.in the Centennial Park Gym. $100 (includes Youth Evolution Basketball jersey). Sibling discount and scholarships available. Youth Water Polo Camp

During this eight-class camp swimmers ages 10-14 will learn or improve their skills with Paso Robles High School water polo coach Collin Moore.  Participants must be water safe and capable of swimming 50 yards of the pool and treading water for two minutes.  Tuesdays and Thursdays, January 4-27 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Municipal Pool.  $45 registration + $45 annual insurance fee for first time students.  $5 sibling/returning student discount. Learn more and register HERE.

Beginning Photography

During this class for beginning photography students taught by professional photographer Sharon West, you’ll learn about camera settings and how they work together to produce great images.  Mondays, January 10-February 7 from 6-7 p.m. at Centennial Park (no class 1/17). $45 registration, ages 18+. The Science Behind Frozen

Join us this winter for this special science camp for children ages four to seven. Nichole Guidotti, microbiologist turned kindergarten teacher, will bring the film Frozen to life for young scientists as they explore the science of ice and water. Together students will create their own snowstorms, harness Elsa's ice powers with the touch of their fingers, melt ice castles and of course build a snowman. Winter Garden Robin Craft

Learn a new skill or improve your crafting abilities with the Paso Robles City Library’s monthly craft series! Crafters will enjoy the challenge of creating this month’s cross stitch robin in a winter garden similar to the photo. Space is limited. Registration with library card is required for all participants to get craft materials and information about ZOOM meetup. For ages 16+.

Tuesdays: Try It! Tuesday Kit Pick Up Day! Every Tuesday, come on in to pick up one of our STEAM themed kits, which includes everything you need to complete the activity – even instructions! Provide administrative support with facility reservations, facility use agreements, alcohol use permits, and certificates of insurance; assist with customer service at the registration counter; maintain correspondence with other divisions or agencies, sponsors, and community partners; organize and maintain file systems; general administrative duties including answering the phones and assisting callers; analyze data and produce related reports; 0pen the facility and prepare rooms for classes and meetings; related duties as required. Opening/closing the Centennial Park facility in support of user groups; set up and take down of special event chairs, tables, and other equipment as needed; overseeing patron needs and safety, and cleanliness of the facility; processing class registrations and facility reservations; overseeing and attending to recreation programs and events at City recreation facilities and parks; overseeing the facility and insuring users conform to established City policies and procedures; related duties as required. The Water Maintenance Specialist III is responsible for performing lead level work that involves the training, mentoring, and coordination of lower level employees while executing journey-level preventative maintenance and repair duties of municipal water supply and distribution systems. Foster Care Needed in Paso Robles

SLO County is currently facing an unprecedented shortage of available resource family homes to care for foster youth, 51 of whom are from Paso Robles. The two most pressing needs are for homes willing to provide short-term care as an emergency shelter home or homes willing to care for school-aged youth ages 6-18, especially teenagers. Translation Services Available

The City of Paso Robles uses a translation service to help callers more quickly. The service allows City staff to easily connect to a third-party translation service via a conference call. The service has been in use by the Police Department for some time and is now available in all departments when callers access the City’s information line at 805.227.7276.
