AARP Tax HelpAARP is once again offering free tax help for seniors. All assistance is by appointment and AARP Tax-Aide is offering an online self-booking appointment system for taxpayers at ccfreetax.org or call the appointment line between Feb 1 and early April at 805-931-6308. Redistricting Maps RequestedThe City Council is seeking input in selecting the next district map for City Council elections, interested parties should submit a map and plan to attend the March 1 City Council meeting in person or by calling in to give public comment. This is an opportunity for residents to share with the City Council how they think district boundaries should be drawn to best represent the community. Mapping resources include paper and web tools. Park ImprovementsBarney Schwartz Park, located at 2970 Union Road in Paso Robles, has recently benefitted from several upgrades and renovations courtesy of the Paso Robles REC Foundation and the City’s Community Services Parks Maintenance team. New scoreboards featuring an LED display and wireless consoles were installed by the City’s maintenance staff in January 2022 at all four of the park’s softball fields. Details

Planning Commission AppointmentsThe Paso Robles City Council has re-appointed two sitting Planning Commissioners back to the Paso Robles Planning Commission. Commissioners Sheree Davis and Mark Koegler were both re-appointed to new 3-year terms at a special City Council meeting on February 3, 2022. The City Council interviewed three applicants to fill two open positions on the Planning Commission. Detalls

Ukulele BootcampThis popular one day camp returns with an all-ages class designed to introduce students to what instructor Brian Schwartz calls, “The least expensive and most enjoyable instrument anyone can learn to play.” Ukulele’s available to borrow from instructor. Self Defense: Krav MagaDuring the six-week series taught by certified Krav Maga instructor Adam Mora, students will learn self-defense strategies in a safe and fun environment. Learn the seven fundamental movements of Krav Maga and start to develop the building blocks of situational awareness. This class is perfect for everyone including a parent wanting to protect their family, a student starting college or someone who wants to get into shape but prefers something different from the traditional gym workout. Tuesdays and Thursdays, March 1 through April 7 from 6:30-7:30 pm in the Centennial Park Gym. $108 registration + $6 supply fee, family member discount available. Learn more and register here.

Pickleball 101 & 201Certified pickleball instructor Janice Mundee welcomes new players (Pickleball 101) and those interested in improving their pickleball skills (Pickleball 201) during these two day weekend classes. Families and individuals ages 12 and older are welcome! Pickleball 101: Saturday and Sunday, February 19 & 20 from 1-3 p.m. on the Centennial Park Pickleball courts. $55 registration + $20 supply fee per family for The Official Pickleball Workbook. A pickleball paddle, cover and ball can be purchased form the instructor at class for an additional $25. Pickleball 201: Sunday, February 27 from 12-3 p.m. on the Centennial Park Pickleball Courts. $60 registration + 20 supply fee if you don’t have The Official Pickleball Workbook from taking the Pickleball 101 class. Translation Services AvailableThe City of Paso Robles uses a translation service to help callers more quickly. The service allows City staff to easily connect to a third-party translation service via a conference call. The service has been in use by the Police Department for some time and is now available in all departments when callers access the City’s information line at 805.227.7276.
