Homelessness Services DiscussionsThe Paso Robles City Council has created a two-member ad hoc committee to review and make recommendations regarding the City’s existing memorandum of understanding with El Camino Homeless Organization (ECHO). Councilmembers John Hamon and Steve Gregory will host 3-4 meetings to gather public input and report out to the full Council by May 17. Details

Niblick Bike/Pedestrian SurveyThe City of Paso Robles is seeking input from residents on how, when and why they use Niblick Road, in hopes of getting a grant to build a protected bike and walking path on Niblick from Creston Road all the way to the end of the bridge. Surveys have been created to gather input to submit with the grant application in June. Senior Parking PermitsThe City of Paso Robles will be offering 500 annual Senior Downtown Parking Permits starting March 28, 2022, to residents of Paso Robles. Seniors 65 and older can purchase a permit for $30. With the Senior Permit, seniors can park in any paid parking space Downtown without additional payment. Norma's Alley Arch DedicationThe City of Paso Robles is holding a ceremony to dedicate the new "Norma's Alley" arch installed to honor Norma Moye, Executive Director of the Downtown Paso Robles Main Street Association and lifelong benefactor of Paso Robles. The reception takes place on Tuesday, April 5 from 4:30-5:00 PM at the arch location - the "Norma's Way" alley on Pine Street between 12th and 13th.A reception will follow at Dale Evers Studio at 1000 Park Street from 5-6 PM. Comfort Kits for Kids and TeensThe Paso Robles City Library and Recreation Services divisions are partnering with local agencies in providing Comfort Kits to children and families struggling with such situations as homelessness, trauma, or crisis. To date, over 80 kits have been distributed to ECHO, the Paso Robles Fire Department, and the Paso Robles Police Department. The kits contain items that offer children and teens comfort, distraction, and enrichment in both the short-term and over time. Details

Paper Airplane ChallengePaper airplane enthusiasts of all ages are invited to attend this community event Saturday, April 2nd and Wednesday, April 6th (multiple days and times available). Enjoy music, an airplane making station, paper airplane instruction, and a few friendly contests with prizes. $8 registration fee + $4 supply fee (payable at class). April Paint & Lemonade PartySip lemonade while painting and enjoying music during this seasonal all-ages art class. This month students will be painting a spring meadow silhouette on canvas using acrylics. $10 registration + $15 supply fee. $5 registration discount for additional family members. Pickleball: Tuesday Tune-UpsJanice Mundee (Professional Pickleball Registry certified instructor) will lead drills and exercises to help players take their game to the next level. This intermediate class is for students (ages 12+) who know the basics of serving, scoring and court positioning. Tuesday, April 5 or Tuesday, May 3 from 1-3 PM on the Centennial Park Pickleball Courts. $35 ($10 additional family member discount). Learn more and register here.

Art in the Library this MonthThis April, Art in the Library presents the quilt collection of local resident Jeanne Aird. Using such techniques as block printing, Japanese shibori, painting, bleaching, dyeing, hand-stitching, and embroidery, Aird captures the colors and textures of nature, including her own backyard. Aird's creativity will be on display in the library the month of April.

Book of the Year EventThe Paso Robles City Library will celebrate Cuesta Book of the Year, There There by Tommy Orange, with a special book discussion on Thursday, April 7, 6:00-7:00 pm, featuring guest host Kathy Myers from the Cuesta Book of the Year Committee. The novel follows twelve characters from Native communities all traveling to the Big Oakland Powwow, all connected to one another in ways they may not yet realize. Hailed as an instant classic. Registration is required for each participant. This title is available in various formats through the Black Gold Library System. For ages 16+.

Discover Native American Beading Deadline to register: April 8 ZOOM Meetup: April 30, 6:00-7:00 pm As part of the Cuesta Book of the Year celebration honoring Native American culture, the Paso Robles City Library’s adult craft class will focus on Native American beading techniques. Designed for beginning beaders, participants will create a small, beaded piece similar to the one depicted that can be used to decorate an outfit or be included in a larger piece as an accent. Space is limited. Registration with library card is required for all participants to get craft materials and information about ZOOM meetup. For ages 16+.

Translation Services AvailableThe City of Paso Robles uses a translation service to help callers more quickly. The service allows City staff to easily connect to a third-party translation service via a conference call. The service has been in use by the Police Department for some time and is now available in all departments when callers access the City’s information line at 805.227.7276.
