Adopted Council Goalshe Paso Robles City Council recently adopted goals for fiscal years 2022-2024, and is in the process of developing a two-year budget to align with those goals. Goal areas come in six categories: Economic Development and Vitality, Infrastructure, Housing and Homelessness, Public Safety, Quality of Life Amenities; and Governance. The proposed budget will come forward to the City Council for adoption in June. View the Adopted Goals for 2022-2024.

City Budget WorkshopA varied list of projects and budget needs for the next budget cycle were outlined at a public hearing on May 31. Reports from each City department provided a financial overview of each division along with proposed staffing plans and supplemental funding requests designed to achieve the Adopted Goals for 2022-2024. A preliminary budget overview outlined how to achieve those goals financially. View the Preliminary Budget Workshop presentation. The next budget discussion takes place at the June 7 City Council meeting with the final budget scheduled for discussion and approval on June 21.

Trash Pick Up EffortsThe City of Paso Robles is participating in a county-wide initiative to help decrease the amount of trash, especially plastic, that makes its way into our waterways and effects water quality on the Central Coast and in Paso Robles. The campaign asks county residents for help in getting and keeping trash out of local waterways. Residents who would like to participate can pick up trash on their own, adopt-a-street or volunteer for Salinas Riverwalk Cleanup days with Earth Shine. More information.

4th of July Volunteers NeededThe City of Paso Robles is hosting a free 4th of July celebration at Barney Schwartz Park and is seeking volunteers. Volunteer shifts are two hours each and positions include lake monitor, parking attendant and access control monitor. Volunteer benefits include a branded t-shirt, premium parking, a meal voucher and the community’s eternal gratitude. Come be a part of the fun! More information.

Beginning CrochetDuring this weekly beginning crochet class, students will work at their own speed to create a beautiful scarf. Basic crochet stitches such as chain, single and double crochet will be taught, and no prior crochet experience is necessary. Come enjoy learning a new skill! Mondays, June 6-27 from 6-7 p.m. in the Live Oak Room. $45 registration + $5 supply fee provides everything you’ll need to create a beautiful scarf. Learn more and register here.

Self Defense: Krav Maga During this class, students will learn this reality-based self-defense discipline that is practiced worldwide. This class will be taught in a fun, supportive and safe environment where students will learn the fundamental movements of Krav Maga, get some great exercise, and start to develop the building blocks of situational awareness. Ages 16+ Tuesdays/Thursdays June 14-July 21 from 6:30-7:30 PM in the Centennial Park Gym. $108 (15% additional family member discount available). Learn more and register here.

Pickleball: Tuesday Tune-UpsJanice Mundee, Professional Pickleball Registry certified instructor, will lead drills and exercises to help players take their game to the next level. This intermediate class is for students ages 12 to adult who know basics of serving, scoring and court positioning. Tuesday, May 3 from 1-3 PM on the Centennial Park Pickleball Courts. $35 (additional family member discount available). Learn more and register here.

Craft a Macrame Basket Deadline to register: June 6 ZOOM Meetup: Wednesday, June 22, 6-7 pm Intermediate crafters will enjoy the challenge of creating a macramé basket based on the design of Home Decoration Love. Using the simple square knot, this basket can be used to hold any number of small items and will complement the décor in any room. Space is limited. Library Book Group Reads: Dogtripping by David Rosenfelt Wednesday, June 15, 6-7 pm Library Conference Room When mystery writer David Rosenfelt and his family moved from Southern California to Maine to begin a dog-rescue foundation, they thought they had prepared for everything. But traveling with 25 dogs turned out to be a bigger ordeal than he anticipated! The title is available in in various formats through the catalog. Library Space is limited. Translation Services AvailableThe City of Paso Robles uses a translation service to help callers more quickly. The service allows City staff to easily connect to a third-party translation service via a conference call. The service has been in use by the Police Department for some time and is now available in all departments when callers access the City’s information line at 805.227.7276.
