Paso Robles and Atascadero Awarded Broadband GrantThe cities of Paso Robles and Atascadero were recently awarded a $200,000 grant from the California Public Utilities Commission for the North County Broadband Strategic Plan. The grant is for costs related to the development of broadband network projects to benefit unserved or underserved Californians. Paso Robles and Atascadero have partnered to increase internet access for the residents and businesses of Northern San Luis Obispo County.

November 14: Public Forum at City Hall on Broadband Development The public forum will include an overview of the broadband strategy project that is underway and a panel discussion regarding digital inclusion. Panel participants will include representatives from the public sector, education, healthcare, and business. Forum to be held Nov. 14th from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chamber at 1000 Spring Street.

Paso Robles 2Q Sales Tax HighlightsPaso Robles’ receipts from April through June were 5.3% above the second sales period in 2021. Excluding reporting aberrations, actual sales were up 8.3%. The City experienced another solid growth period from the business-industry group with garden/ag sales contributing. Even with rising menu prices, patrons enjoyed frequenting casual eateries and quick service restaurants, whether to celebrate special occasions or socialize. Read the report HERE.

NASA CubeSat Powered by Stellar Exploration to Enter Lunar Orbit CAPSTONE, a microwave oven–sized CubeSat, was launched on June 28th from New Zealand as part of a NASA mission to the moon and, after a four-month journey to its target destination will enter lunar orbit on November 13th. Stellar Exploration, a company that designs and builds miniaturized aerospace solutions for military, civil and commercial customers is providing CAPSTONE’s propulsion system. In April, Dr. Tomas Svitek, President of Stellar Exploration, and Mayor Martin officially signed a Letter of Intent for future collaboration related to the Paso Robles Spaceport project.

Spaceport Presentation Hosted by Paso Robles Lions ClubOn November 8th, Paso Robles Airport Manager, Mark Scandalis, and Economic Development Manager, Paul Sloan, presented the Paso Robles Spaceport and Tech Corridor project to a packed house at the Paso Robles Lions Club. As part of the City's ongoing communications outreach, presentations have also been made to the Paso Robles Main Street Association, Paso Robles Chamber of Commerce, Estrella Warbirds Museum Association, Paso Robles Library Association, North SLO County Association of REALTORS®, Paso Robles Rotary Club, and others. Community Asked to Test Internet Access and SpeedThe cities of Paso Robles and Atascadero, through their joint broadband strategy project, and the Broadband Consortium of the Pacific Coast, have launched an internet needs assessment survey and speed test campaign for the public to self-report their digital experiences and internet speeds at home, work, or wherever they connect. How To Apply for a Business LicenseFind out how to apply for a business license, including fees, taxes, and other required permits and forms. The Department of Administrative Services is responsible for providing service to the general public, business license applicants and each existing licensee. Our objective is to assist each business in obtaining the proper business license and/or permit and to ensure proper compliance to the business license code for all businesses transacting business within the city.

Public Mapping ApplicationsThe City IT department has been hard at work developing and implementing the City’s new ArcGIS Enterprise system. This new platform will replace ArcReader and has allowed for the development of both public and staff GIS desktop and mobile applications.
