Public Hearing to Renew and Increase Tourism AssessmentThe SLO County economy relies on tourism and travelers don’t tend to visit an area that does not market and advertise heavily. In 2015, a countywide Tourism Marketing District (TMD) was established which placed a 1% assessment on short-term lodging stays throughout SLO County, to fund marketing. The cities in the county are being asked to approve an increased assessment rate of 1.5%, paid by each lodging guest. There will be a Public Hearing at the October 1 City Council meeting. Details
